All the attractions in the historic city centre are easily accessible on foot or by bike. Like the many museums, the Domtoren and the Domkerk, De Zeven Steegjes or (only on the last Sunday of the month!) Paushuize.
In fine weather, the city parks Lepelenburg and Wilhelminapark are worth visiting for a nice walk or a picnic.
Unusual ways to explore Utrecht (and really recommended!) are a city walk with a tour from the Gilde or (also with a guide, first and third Friday of the month) a night-time canoe trip.
Utrecht is also the 'Film City' and famous for the annual Netherlands Film festival. The best cinemas in Utrecht, Louis Hartlooper Complex and Springhaver, are both situated near Hotel Oudegracht.
Music and theatre
In the recently totally renovated music centre Tivoli Vredenburg, Utrecht Stadsschouwburg and the Beatrixtheater, you can enjoy concerts, plays, cabaret and musicals. In the smaller theatres like Theater Kikker and the Werftheater, you can see smaller but often unusual music, theatre and dance performances.
Restaurants and cafés
You will find cafés, terraces and restaurants on Ledig Erf, just 150 metres from van Hotel Oudegracht, and in the neighbouring Twijnstraat. Elsewhere in the Museum District (for example on Domplein) and in the bustling Neude, you will also find plenty of cafes, restaurants and other places to go out.
Twijnstraat has been a shopping street since the 13th century and is therefore one of the oldest shopping streets in the Netherlands. Here you will mainly find small, special boutiques. The bigger shopping area in Utrecht which has all the well-known fashion stores and the famous department store De Bijenkorf is a 10 minute walk along the lovely Oudegracht where you will also discover lots of nice and interesting shops, boutiques and galleries.
On the map
On the map above, we marked several of the city highlights to give you an idea of the many options.
Festivals and events 2017
If you would like to add a day or evening in Amsterdam to your stay, then Hotel Oudegracht is an excellent starting point. From Utrecht CS railway station, it is just half an hour by train to Amsterdam CS. Concerts in Ziggodome, AFAS Life or football matches and other events in the Johan Cruijff Arena are just a 17 minute train journey away!
