Hotel Oudegracht is the ideal starting point as well as a comfortable resting place to explore the lovely and friendly city of Utrecht. If you wish, we will be happy to provide you with tips about museums, restaurants, concerts, theatres, city walks and other activities. Send us an e-mail or check out the page 'Location'.
Stay in a medieval wharf cellar on the canal
Hotel Oudegracht is located in a recently extensively renovated medieval wharf cellar in the centre of Utrecht, according to many 'the loveliest canal city in Europe'. Care and respect for the historic heritage and the (living) environment are important starting points for the renovation, design and use of the wharf cellar. Sustainability and comfort go extremely well together.
Respect for the historic environment
You are free to use the lovely wharf terrace outside your wharf cellar room. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and a bite to eat looking over the water and the passing boats. Terrace furniture is available.
However, there is one important House Rule: “keep the wharf clean and quiet!”. You are not permitted to play music on the terrace or cause any other kind of disruption.
For breakfast, we offer two options:
A) For EUR 12.50 per person per night, you can enjoy a delicious and complete breakfast at Stael in Twijnstraat (300 metres from Hotel Oudegracht) with coffee/tea, croissant, rolls, sweet spreads and savoury toppings, an egg, yoghurt, fresh fruit and orange juice.
B) You can prepare your own breakfast in the kitchenette. On arrival, you will find a basic package containing nice breakfast products for the first morning. For the rest of your stay, you can do your own shopping in Twijnstraat, a three minute walk away. Or you can have breakfast in one of the local breakfast cafes.
Lunch and dinner
For lunch and dinner, there are various lunchrooms, bistros and restaurants near Hotel Oudegracht. On the 'location' page, you can read which are our own favourites.
Of course, you may make your own lunch or dinner in the kitchenette in your room. The delicatessen, butcher and fishmonger in Twijnstraat all sell freshly prepared meals. For a nice wine to go with your meal, there are various wine shops/off licences in Twijnstraat. In Twijnstraat, you can collect fresh sushi and pizza or have it delivered to your hotel room.
You have your own entrance to the wharf and maximum privacy. The hotel does not have a reception or lounge; our office is around 150 metres away. Before you arrive, you will receive an e-mail from us and a text message with a pin code which you can use to check in.
